Horns sometimes spit acids and/or look red to warn and frighten predators

 

INTERESTING NOTE: Cairns birdwing has warning colours and are poisonous, because of the poison in the food plants…The adults live 2-4 months because they can fly slower and more relaxing

Caterpillar mimic warning colours and band together to look bigger

Camouflage

Parasitic wasp

Ulysses have no warning colours but are one of the fastest flyers - flying erratically to evade predators. The trade off is it has a short life..
